KPN Experience Stores Replace Queue Process with AI Hologram Chatty

For the KPN Experience Stores, Media Hologram developed a talking AI hologram named Chatty. This green, custom-made variant of Lexie welcomes visitors, asks for their names and the reason for their visit, and forwards this information to store employees.

KPN Experience Stores

KPN is one of the best-known telecom and technology companies in the Netherlands. With its Experience Stores, KPN aims for more than just sales and service. These stores are designed as modern customer environments where visitors can experience products, services, and technology in an accessible way.

For stores with many visitors, a clear and efficient reception is important. The classic system of customers taking a number is becoming less suitable for a store concept that prioritizes personal service, innovation, and brand experience. Therefore, KPN wanted an innovative way to welcome visitors and ensure that employees receive the right information immediately.

Media Hologram developed Chatty for this purpose: a talking AI hologram based on the standard Lexie solution. Whereas Lexie is normally recognizable by a blue face, Chatty was given its own green look for KPN that better fits KPN's brand identity.

Chatty greets visitors as soon as they enter the store. Next, the AI assistant asks for the visitor's name and the reason for their visit. This information is recorded and forwarded to the store employees. This way, they immediately know which customer is present and why they are there. This makes the reception process more efficient and gives visitors the immediate feeling that they are being personally helped. The setup is active in the KPN Experience Stores in Amsterdam, Breda, Eindhoven, and Rotterdam. This means Chatty is not just a standalone gimmick but a practical application of AI and holographic technology within retail. The system combines customer reception, queue management, and brand experience in one solution.

This project demonstrates how an AI hologram can be employed as a smart shopping assistant. For retail environments, showrooms, and service points, this solution offers a modern way to welcome visitors, gather customer information, and better prepare employees for conversations.
